William Purdy played for the Purple Eagles from 1975-78. Purdy was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 13th round of the 1978 June Amateur Draft.  Purdy appeared in 23 games for the Bluefield Orioles in 1978 before being promted the A ball in 1979 with the Miami Orioles.
