Al Butler played three years for the Purple Eagles from 1958-61. Butler throughout his career averaged 22.8 points per game which is the second highest career mark in school history only behind Calvin Murphy.

Butler was selected 17th overall in the 1961 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics. He averaged 9.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in his nine year NBA career.
