Niagara University Athletics

Montagna served as the first head coach of the Niagara men's soccer program from 1968-70, helping the program transition from a club team to a varsity team. 
In the team's inaugural season competing at the NCAA Division I level in 1969, the team went 8-3-1. The Purple Eagles went 11-4 during the 1970 season. 
Monagna was inducted into the Niagara University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007 in recognition of his contributions to the men's soccer program.
