Chris Begg played for the Purple Eagles from 1999-01 and his name appears in the Niagara record book several times. 

He is third in career ERA (3.61), third in career wins (16), first in career complete games (13), first in career shutouts (3), fifth in career innings pitched (216.2), third in career strikeouts (195), fourth in single season ERA (2.63), first in single season wins (8), third in single season innings pitched (92.1). Begg won MAAC Pitcher of the Year and All-MAAC first team honors in 2001. 

He was signed as an undrafted free agent with the San Francisco Giants in 2003 where he pitched for the AAA Fresno Grizzlies until 2008. Begg also pitched on the world stage representing Team Canada in the 04’ and 08’ Summer Olympics. He also pitched for the 06’ and 09’ World Baseball Classic team.
