After opening up their 2019 season last weekend, the Purple Eagles are back on the road this weekend for a four-game series at New Mexico Feb. 22-24. This is Niagara's first all-time meeting with the Lobos. 

Last Time Out
  • Niagara opened its 2019 season last weekend with a three-game series at North Carolina A&T from Feb. 15-17. The Aggies edged the Purple Eagles in all three contests.
  • North Carolina A&T thwarted Niagara in a doubleheader on Feb. 15, winning 4-3 in the opening contest and 6-2 in the second matchup. The Aggies concluded the series with a 6-0 shutout win on Sunday, Feb. 17. 

Scouting the Purple Eagles
  • In his first start of the season, Matthew Brash had a phenomenal outing on the mound. He tossed a career-high 11 strikeouts and allowed just four hits and one run in 7.0 innings pitched.
  • Newcomer Max Giordano led the team in hits with four, while Dawson Bailey scored two runs for Niagara.
  • Darian Blanks swiped two bases against the Aggies on three attempts.

Scouting the Lobos
  • The Lobos started their 2019 campaign last weekend, with three of their four contests against nationally ranked opponents.
  • New Mexico started the season on Feb. 15 with a 6-5 loss to No. 8 Oregon State before earning a dominant 11-1 win against No. 24 Minnesota on Feb. 16. On the backhand of their weekend slate, the team defeated Gonzaga, 6-4, on Feb. 17 before being blanked by Oregon State, 5-0.
  • Infielder Connor Mang delivered a team-high seven hits last weekend, while outfielder Jared Mang led the team in RBIs with seven.
  • Nathanial Garley (1-0) was dominant against Minnesota, allowing just three hits, one earned run and three walks and fanning six batters in 7.0 innings pitched.

  • Niagara heads to Lewisburg, Pa. for a three-game series against Bucknell from March 1-3.
