Edison, NJ - Niagara University senior pitcher Andrew Damiani was named MAAC Reliever of the Year and All-MAAC First Team member, while Jacob Brooks and Rees Kozar all also earned All-MAAC Team honors and Nick Cote was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team the conference announced Tuesday morning.
Damiani tied the Niagara single-season save record with 11 saves during the regular season. He posted a 2.60 ERA in 45.0 innings with 50 strikeouts. The Williamsville, Ny native also led the Purple Eagles in wins this season with five.
Brooks started all 46 games at the shortstop position for the Purple Eagles. The New Albany, MS native led Niagara with a .337 batting average, 67 hits and 15 stolen bases. Brooks also recorded 22 RBI and 111 assists defensively.
Kozar started in 45 games for the Purple and White tallying 65 hits for a .333 batting average. The Amherstburg, Ontario native led Niagara with 40 RBI while hitting six home runs. Kozar also recorded 98 putouts and 56 assists defensively.
Cote tallied 43 hits for a .276 batting average with 18 RBI during his freshman campaign. The Oakville, Ontario native tallied 10 extra base hits including his first collegiate home run against Mount St. Mary's.
The MAAC also announced the All-Academic Team where 15 student-atheltes were honored
