Wappingers Falls, NY - Niagara baseball defeated Marist 6-2 in the elmination bracket to stay alive in the MAAC Tournament.
Marist got on the board early plating one run in the top of the first when Brotz scored on an error. Niagara starter Nate Bennett punched out the Red Foxes in order in the second.
The Purple Eagles took the lead in the bottom of the second scoring twice, starting with a sac fly from Matthew Ganschow that brought home Jason Green, followed by an RBI single off the bat of Jacob Brooks that scored Nick Cote.
Niagara extended their lead in the third, plating another run, this time on a sac fly from Cote that brought home Rees Kozar.
Green kept things going in the fifth with an RBI single that plated McKay to make it a 4-1 Purple Eagles lead.
Marist got one run back in the top of the sixth with Brotz scoring on a fielder's choice. Niagara responded in the bottom of the frame getting that run back as Kozar singled to bring home Shawn Cameron and restore the three run lead.
McKay added an insurance run in the eighth to move the lead to 6-2, and Andrew Damiani came on to earn his record-breaking 12th save of the season.
