Box Score 2 Trumbull, Conn. — Niagara's men's and women's tennis teams both defeated Sacred Heart on Saturday. Both the men and the women took down the Pioneers 6-1.
The duo of Tanner Bedard and Vid Maric defeated Paul Goncalves and Antoine Hernandez 7-5 at No. 1 doubles while Jose Maria Garica and Trevor Masi secured the doubles point for the Purple Eagles with a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Niagara swept the first five positions with Bedard, Masi, Maric, Mikolaj Kowal and Garcia all earning victories.
On the women's side, the No. 1 doubles team of Isabel Garcia and Gabriela Melo won 6-4 and Saloni Tamang and Mercedes Velasco locked up the doubles point for Niagara at No. 3 doubles with a 6-4 victory.
Melo fell at the No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-4 but the Purple Eagles swept the rest of the singles matchups with Garcia, Larisa Kotok, Tamang, Valeria Mora and Velasco all being victorious.
