Box Score WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - Quinnipiac took both men's and women's tennis matches Friday afternoon over Niagara by the final score of 4-3 at the Village Glen Tennis Club.
In women's singles action, Niagara salvaged points from
Isabel Garcia, who defeated Caitlin Flower 6-2, 6-2, and
Valeria Mora, who delivered a commanding 6-0, 6-0 performance against Jordan Bradley.
In doubles play, the teams split the first two matches with Quinnipiac's duo of Renton and Flower winning 6-2, and Niagara's
Saloni Tamang and
Mercedes Velasco responding with an identical 6-2 victory. Niagara claimed the doubles point when
Larisa Kotok and Mora edged Quinnipiac's Schulson and Bradley in a tight tiebreaker, 7-6(6).
In men's action, Niagara prevailed by taking the doubles point over the Bobcats. The Purple Eagles secured the doubles advantage with victories from Tanner Bedard and partner Vid Maric and Trevor Masi Jose Maria Garcia.
Quinnipiac's men countered with four singles wins from Finn Burridge (6-4, 6-3), Carlos Braun-Simo (6-4, 6-0), Elias Hoxha (4-6, 6-4, 6-4) and Alex Yang (7-6(5), 6-1). However, Niagara's Bedard topped Daniel Velek 6-3, 6-4, and Kowal outlasted James Lorenzetti 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 in a pivotal match.
