NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. — The Colgate Invite concluded Sunday with strong performances from several Purple Eagles, particularly
Isabel Garcia and
Saloni Tamang.
Garcia, totaled four singles wins over the weekend. The freshman's victories included a hard-fought match against Eklund, winning 6-4, 6-4, and a thrilling three-set victory over Fernando, 6-1, 6-7 (7-9), 10-8.
Tamang, also recorded four wins as the Purple Eagle had three singles wins and a pair of doubles victory partnering with Garcia.
Larisa Kotok had a solid showing with three wins, including a dominant 6-0, 6-2 victory over Colgate's Kunar. However, she fell to teammate Tamang in a later round.
Gabriela Melo secured two wins, one in singles and one in doubles. Her doubles victory came alongside Kotok, defeating Barona and Alvarez 7-6 (8-6).
Valeria Mora also contributed two wins to Niagara's strong showing, including a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Bonini of Siena.
Mercedes Velasco rounded out the group with two wins, notably defeating Le Moyne's Barona 6-2, 6-2 in an early round match.
