Box Score Orchard Park, N.Y.—The Niagara women's tennis team opened the home portion of their spring schedule on Friday afternoon as they hosted Oakland University. The Purple Eagles won two singles matches but fell 5-2 overall.
Doubles
Coral Rodriguez and Gabriela Melo were teamed up in third doubles. The duo picked up their first win together as they won 6-3.
Elena Mayet and Jaida Borg fell 6-1 in first doubles while Enrica Favaron and Larisa Kotok fell 6-2 in second doubles.
Singles
Melo was slotted in the fourth singles position in her first home match as a Purple Eagle. She won the opening set 6-2 and notched her second collegiate singles match with a 6-4 second set win.
Favaron played in the fifth singles position. She won the opening set of the match 6-3 and took home the win with a 6-3 win in the second set.
Mayet competed in the first singles position. She fell 6-3 in the first set and 6-0 in the second set.
Rodriguez fell in her second singles match 6-0, 6-1.
Borg played third singles against the Grizzles, she fell 6-3 in the first set. In the second set she won 6-3 to forced a tiebreaker set. She won two games in the tiebreaker but fell 10-2 in the set.
Mercedes Velasco played in sixth singles. She fell in her first set 6-2 and 6-1 in the second set.
