Bowling Green, OH—The Niagara women's tennis team concluded their opening weekend at the Bowling Green "Dynamic Duo" Fall Invitational.

The weekend tournament features 64 athletes with 32 teams competing. Each round consists of a best two of three to determine which team will advance. The teams will play one doubles match which is followed by each player playing a singles match.

The duo of Elena Mayet and Jaida Borg were the lone Purple Eagles to win in the round of 32. In their round of 16 match, they fell 3-0. In the doubles match they fell 8-6 to the team from Toledo. Mayet fell 6-3, 6-1 in her singles match. In Borg's singles match she fell 6-2, 6-3.

Mercedes Velesco and Enrica Favaron picked up their consolation match after falling in the double match on Friday. Velasco fell in her singles match 6-3, 6-2 while Favaron fell 6-0, 6-3 in their singles matches against Toledo.

Larisa Kotok and Coral Rodriguez faced a duo from Miami (OH) in their consolation match. In the doubles match the Purple Eagles fell 8-6. In her singles match, Kotok fell 6-0, 6-1. Rodriguez won her first set 6-4 before dropping the second set 6-1. In the tie breaker she fell 10-7.

Niagara will be back in action next weekend as they will face Buffalo and St. Bonaventure with Buffalo hosting the event on Saturday, Sept. 23.
