Box Score Williamsville, N.Y.—The Niagara women's tennis team opened it's spring season against Division II opponent IUP. Despite falling in doubles, the Purple Eagles won five of six singles to win 5-2.
Match Recap

• Jaida Borg was slotted in the fourth position and won in straight sets. She was the first set 6-0 before taking the second set 6-2.
• In the fifth position Mercedes Velasco earned a valuable point in straight sets. She took the first set 6-3 and secured the win with a 6-1 win in the second set.
• Freshman Enrica Favaron earned a sweep in sixth singles, she won the opening set 6-4. She finished the match with a 6-2 win.
• In third singles, Erika Gonzalez picked up a three set win. She fell 6-4 in the first set but responded with a 6-4 win to even the match. She won the tie breaking set 7-5 to win the point.
• Elena Mayet clinched the match with a three set win number two doubles, she fell in the first set but rebounded to win the second set 6-1 and the third set 7-5.

Niagara Notes

• The Purple Eagles are now 2-2 in duel matches this season with their other win coming against Daemen in October.
• All five winners from Friday are now 2-0 in wins this season.
