The Purple Eagles begin their spring season with a pair of matches this week. NU takes on Buffalo on Friday and plays Bucknell on Saturday.

Scene Setter
  • The Purple Eagles went 2-2 in their fall dual matches with wins over Rider and Daemen.
  • NU also participated in the Bucknell Invitational, the Navy's Bill & Sandra Moore Invitational, SBU Fall Cllasic and the ITA Northeast Regionals.  
  • Niagara was picked fifth in the MAAC Preseason Poll.
     
 Match Tidbits
  • Erika Gonzalez had a team-best 9-5 record in the fall season, including going 7-3 in her last 10 matches.
  • Gonzalez and double teammate Megan Gamble won a team-best seven matches.
  • NU's No. 1 Olga Donchu went 8-5 in during the fall season.

Across The Net – Buffalo Bulls (2-0)
  • The Bulls were tabbed as the favorites to win the MAC championship announced on January 16.
  • UB returns five players from last season, including All-MAC second-team selection Pia Schwarz, and welcomes five newcomers.
  • Gabrilla Akopyan won a team-best eight singles matches.
  • The Bulls went 2-0 in the fall, including a 7-0 win over Niagara. As a team, UB went 46-19 in singles and 20-13 in double matches participating in two duals and three invitationals.
 
Across The Net – Bucknell Bison
  • The Bison played in four invitationals, including hosting two, in the fall season.
  • Bucknell will play its first dual matches of the season against St. Bonaventure and Niagara on February 1.
  • Cayla Koch won the SJU Invitational consolation singles top flight to close out the fall season.
  • Bucknell has won the last four meetings with the Purple Eagles.
