The Purple Eagles women's tennis team will play a pair of matches this weekend. Niagara hosts Quinnipiac to start MAAC action on Saturday and faces Detroit in Olean, N.Y. on Sunday.

Scene Setter
  • The Purple Eagles will play their first match at the Village Glen Tennis Center, their indoor home site, of the season on Saturday.
  • Niagara is coming off of a 6-1 defeat at the Bucknell Bison on February 9.
  • The Purple Eagles went 4-3 in conference matches last season and qualified for the 4-team MAAC Tournament as the No. 4 seed where they fell to eventual champion Quinnipiac in the semifinals.

  • Quinnipiac, the five-time defending MAAC champions, was tabbed as the preseason favorites.
  • Quinnipiac has won 48 straight MAAC matches since joining the conference in 2013-14, including 38 consecutive regular season victories.
  • The Bobcats return First Team All-MAAC performers in every singles spot (1-6), headlined by 2017-18 MAAC Player of the Year and MAAC Rookie of the Year Dominique Vasile.
