Women’s Tennis Takes Doubles Point In Defeat To Detroit Mercy

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Niagara University women's tennis team won the doubles point before falling to the Detroit Mercy Titans, 6-1, on Saturday

Match Summary
  • The Purple Eagles won the doubles point for the first time this spring to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Niagara won in three doubles with the team of Chhinda Som and Ali Hutchinson defeating Detroit's Ksenia Providokina and Sophie Torcello, 6-2.
  • After falling in one doubles, the No. 2 doubles team of Andreea Peteu and Stella Peisakhova edged Pauline Van Herck and Iris Thioux, 7-6.
  • However, the Titans bounced back to win all six singles.
  • Detroit won in six, four, two and five singles to clinch the match.

  • Stella Peisakhova and Andreea Peteu improved to 2-0 in doubles on the season.
  • Ali Hutchinson and Chhinda Som won their first match as a double pair in four attempts.
