The Niagara Purple Eagles are back in action on Friday to play the Akron Zips at 2 p.m. and the Bucknell Bison at 5 p.m. in Olean, N.Y.
First Serve
- Niagara (3-1) opened its spring season with a 7-0 defeat to the Syracuse Orange on January 21.
- NU went 3-0 in dual matches in the fall.
- Three Purple Eagles – Stella Peisakhova, Andrea Peteu and Sharlee Deshmukh – have five singles wins.
- The doubles team of Andrea Peteu and Ali Hutchinson is a team-best 4-2.
- The Purple Eagles host Colgate on Sunday.
Across The Net – Akron Zips (1-1)
- The Zips are 1-1 on the season after splitting a pair of matches to start the spring season. Akron defeated Detroit Mercy, 5-2, in its spring opener before falling to Pitt.
- Akron will play St. Bonaventure before playing the Purple Eagles.
- Senior Carli Knezevich won both of her singles matches to earn MAC Singles Player of the Week.
- This will be the third straight season the teams have met.
Across The Net – Bucknell Bison (0-0)
- The Bison competed in four invitaionals in the fall season as they head into their first dual match of the 2017-18 season.
- Rachel Carroll led Bucknell with six singles wins, while Cayla Koch collected five doubles wins with two different partners.
- This will be the third time in four seasons the teams have met.
