SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Niagara University women's tennis team started its spring season with a 7-0 defeat to the Syracuse Orange on Sunday.
 
Match Summary

• NU lost the doubles point after falling in all three matches.
• The team of Andrea Peteu and Ali Hutchinson managed to win two games in No. 3 doubles.
• In singles, SU won all six matches.
• The Orange picked up wins in two, five and one singles to clinch the match.
• Shannon Wong had the closes match for the Purple Eagles, falling 6-3, 6-4, in No. 4 singles to Maria Tritou.

• NU had its first dual match loss of the season after going 3-0 in the fall.
• Freshman Chhinda Som made her debut as a Purple Eagle.
