Baseball Heads To Poughkeepsie For Three-Game Series At Marist

After getting off to their best conference start since 2006, the Purple Eagles head to Marist for a three-game series on April 8-9.

On the Field: Niagara Purple Eagles (9-18-1, 5-1 MAAC)
  • At the plate, the Purple Eagles are led by Michael Fuhrman. Fuhrman is 43-for-106 and has a team-leading .406 batting average. He also leads the team with a .538 slugging percentage.
  • Tanner Kirwer leads Niagara with 21 RBIs as well as 14 stolen bases on 20 attempts.
  • In the field, Christian Vangeison has a team-high 179 putouts and Greg Cullen has a team-best 64 assists.

Kirwer's outstanding performance earned him MAAC Player of the Week, College Sports Madness' Madness MAAC Player of the Week and he was also named by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association as the National Hitter of the Week.
  • On the mound, Kolodziejski earned his first win of the season in the Purple Eagles' 11-0 shutout victory. He pitched 8.0 innings, struck out eight batters and held the Peacocks to only four hits. Kolodziejski was named MAAC Pitcher of the Week after his performance against Saint Peter's.

  • Niagara leads the MAAC in team batting average (.287), slugging percentage (.386), on-base percentage (.375), runs scored (162), hits (280), RBIs (135) and doubles (56).
  • Fuhrman's .406 batting average is the best in the MAAC. Fuhrman also leads the MAAC in on-base percentage (.492), runs scored (24) and hits (43).
  • Kirwer tops the MAAC with 14 stolen bases.
  • On the mound, Daniel Procopio's eight starts lead the conference.

Last Meeting with Marist
  • The Purple Eagles last faced the Red Foxes in a three-game series on April 11-12, 2015. Niagara won the first two games by scores of 10-5 and 8-6 and Marist won the final game, 3-2.

  • At the plate, Marist is led by outfielder Matt Pagano. Pagano is 9-for-30 and has a .300 batting average.

Looking Ahead
  • The Purple Eagles open their home schedule on Tuesday, April 12 in a doubleheader against St. Bonaventure.
  • After St. Bonaventure, Niagara will resume conference play with a three-game series at Fairfield.
