Women’s Tennis Falls To Quinnipiac In MAAC Semifinals

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – In a rematch of last season's MAAC Championship match, the No. 4 Niagara Purple Eagles lost 4-0 to the top-seeded Quinnipiac Bobcats in the 2016 MAAC Tournament Semifinals on Saturday at the Mercer County Park Tennis Center.

The Purple Eagles were making their fourth straight appearance in the four-team conference tournament and were seeking consecutive appearances in the final for the first time since making three straight trips from 2003-05. NU is now 0-4 all-time against Quinnipiac.

The Bobcats, who are the two-time defending champions, won in No. 1 and 3 doubles to take the doubles point. Quinnipiac followed with wins in three, four and six singles to clinch the match. 

The Purple Eagles, made up of five freshmen and two sophomores, finish the season with a 9-12 record.
