Williamsville, N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles picked up a 7-2 win over the Daemen Wildcats on Saturday.
Playing under NCAA Division II scoring, the Purple Eagles claimed seven of the nine matches played.
NU won two of the three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of
Stella Peisakhova and
Haley Hollins on 8-4 and
Sharlee Deshmukh and
Shannon Wong won their second doubles match of the spring with an 8-0 victory in two doubles.
In singles action, Niagara (4-6) won all five matches played. Peisakhova defeated Karli Hollins, 6-0, 6-2 in No. 1 singles; Hollins beat Hayle Scanlan, 6-1, 6-1 in two singles; Wong blanked Gretchen Ringler, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 3 singles; Deshmukh won 6-0, 6-1; and Leann Richert won her first career match, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(5).
Niagara will play at Cornell (March 12) and Stony Brook (March 13) for its next two matches.
