NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles cruised to a 7-0 win over the Monmouth Hawks on Saturday evening.

The Purple Eagles (9-5, 3-0 MAAC) continued their recent form en route to winning their sixth of their last seven matches.  Niagara won all nine matches against Monmouth (3-7, 1-3 MAAC) while dropping only one set.

NU breezed to the doubles point, winning 8-2, 8-2 and 8-1. Niagara found similar success in singles. Paulina Velasquez was the first one to complete her match as she dispatched Farrah Smoke, 6-2, 6-0, to improve her team-best winning streak to six matches and 15th win of the season. Maria Ortiz, Sarah Hellstern, Ashley Ta and Iva Celan all won comfortably in straight sets. Jenna McCune rallied from a set down to win 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 in six singles in the final match of the night.

Niagara will face Saint Peter's on Sunday at 9 a.m.
