LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Niagara Purple Eagles won their fourth straight match with a 5-1 victory over the Rider Broncs on their conference opener on Friday.
Niagara (7-4, 1-0 MAAC) won every match played with the lone defeat coming in six singles due to a forfeit (no player). Doubles were not played.
The closet match of the day was played in No. 1 singles which saw Ashley Ta defeat Rider's Alison Noll, 7-6 (5), 6-4 for her fourth straight win. The Purple Eagles won the four other singles matches by dropping only two games. Maria Ortiz and Paulina Velasquez each swept their opponent as they stretch their win streaks to four and three matches, respectively.
The Purple Eagles will face Lehigh (2-6) on Sunday.
