HARMAR, Pa. – The Niagara Purple Eagles dropped a 6-1 decision at Atlantic 10’s Duquesne on Sunday.
Freshman
Sarah Hellstern notched the only win for Niagara (2-3). The Stuggart, Germany native defeated Sarah Shashura in straight sets in No. 3 singles, 7-6 (6), 6-3, to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Maria Ortiz dropped a three-set decision to Alexa Miller, 6-4, 0-6, 14-12, in No. 4 singles.
The No. 1 doubles team of
Hilary Hansen and Hellstern was edged, 8-7 (10-5), by Duquesne’s (2-2) Megan O’Sullivan and Shashura.
NU’s next match is against Bucknell on Saturday in Olean, N.Y.
