EDISON, N.J. – The Niagara women’s tennis team was tabbed fourth in the 2013 MAAC Preseason Poll announced on Thursday.
Niagara, which was one of the youngest teams in the country with seven freshmen and one upperclassman, narrowly missed out on the four-team conference tournament due to a tie-breaker.
The Purple Eagles are led by senior captain
Hilary Hansen and have a strong sophomore core in reigning MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year
Ashley Ta,
Maria Ortiz and
Iva Celan.
This season, NU is 1-2 with the lone win coming against Rider.
Defending champion Farifield (61) was picked first, followed by Loyola (54) and Marist (53).
The 2013 MAAC Men's and Women's Tennis Championships will take place at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, New Jersey from April 27-28.
