WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Niagara women's tennis team was defeated by the Delaware State Hornets, 5-2, on Wednesday in its second match of its spring break tour. 

The Purple Eagles (3-4) grinded out the doubles point. Hilary Hansen and Iva Celan won in No. 1 doubles 8-2, before NU lost in No. 3 doubles, 8-3. Ashley Ta and Maria Ortiz squeaked past Kristina Aleksic and Marina Sicic, 8-6, to give NU the doubles point.

In singles, DSU won the first three matches (No. 5, 4, 3) before Hansen picked up the Purple Eagles’ lone win. Hansen beat Ksenia Kozlova in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2.

Niagara concludes its three-match spring break tour against Creighton on Thursday.
