NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. – The Niagara  women’s tennis team notched its first win of the season with a convincing 7-0 victory over the Rider Broncs on Saturday.

Niagara (1-1, 1-0 MAAC) bounced back well from last week’s opener by handling Rider (0-5, 0-4 MAAC). Niagara won all three doubles matches with scores of 8-0, 8-5 and 8-1. In singles play, the Purple Eagles didn’t drop a set. Hilary Hansen,  Ashley Ta and Maria Ortiz continued their strong play against MAAC opponents – all three were 6-1 in conference last season – with dominating performances today. Rachel Zilka recorded her first career MAAC win with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in six singles.
