WEST POINT, N.Y. – The women’s tennis team began play at the 2012 USTA/ITA Northeast Regional on Friday.

Sophomore Ashley Ta fell to Cornell’s Courtney Malinchak, 6-1, 6-2, in the singles qualifying round. In doubles action, Hilary Hansen and Maria Ortiz were clipped by Boston’s Madison Craft and Lauren Davis, 8-6.

The women’s team will continue play tomorrow when Hansen faces Brown’s Ashley Noyes in the singles main draw on Saturday.
