Women's Tennis Picks up Conference Win over St. Peter's, 5-2

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y.- The Niagara women's tennis team picked up its first conference victory of the season on Sunday afternoon by the score of 5-2 over the visiting St. Peter's Peahens.

Niagara was lead by number one doubles pairing of Hilary Hansen and Alyssa lucas, as they defeated Krysten Chen and Andrea Collombo of St. Peter's, 8-3. Hansen and Lucas both picked up victories in their singles matches as well.

In doubles action where Niagara was a perfect 3-3 and picked up the doubles point, the pairing of Emma Cunnington and Julia Gray dominated Jessica Nowogrodzki and Ralitsa Ganevska by the score of 8-1. The other doubles pairing of Raquel Solis and Brittany Walters also picked up a big victory as they won thier match, 8-7 (7-3).

In singles action Walters and Lucas both cruised to victories by the same score of 6-0, 6-1. While Gray continued her strong play as she defeated her opponent by the score of 6-2, 6-1.

Raquel Solis (NU) lost to Joniesa Williams (SPC) 6-1, 6-2

Emma Cunnington (NU) lost to Linnea Enoh Jansson (SPC) 6-3, 0-6, 6-3

Brittany Walters (NU) def. Andrea Collombo (SPC) 6-0, 6-1

Alyssa Lucas (NU) def. Jessica Nowogrodzki (SPC) 6-0, 6-1

Julia Gray (NU) def. Ralitsa Ganevska (SPC) 6-2, 6-1

Niagara returns to the court on Friday, March 12 as they will travel to West Point, N.Y. where they will face the Rhode island at 4:00 pm.
