NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y.- The Niagara women's tennis team dropped its home contest on saturday afternoon to the visiting Binghamton Bearcats, 7-0. The top doubles pairing of Hilary Hansen (Charlottetown, P.E.I.) and Alyssa Lucas (Clarkston, Mich.) were defeated by Lauren Bates and Jillian Santos of Binghamton in a close match, 8-3.
In singles action, Raquel Solis (Puebla, Mexico) put in a strong effort but was beat by Yulia Smirnova of Binghamton 6-2, 6-1. In the top pairing for singles Hansen was downed by bates by the score of 6-0, 6- 3.
Binghamton swept both the double and single points for the day as they downed Niagara 7-0.
The women's tennis team will return to the courts on March 5th against the visiting Bucknell Bison at the Sportsplex in North Tonawanda, N.Y.
