NIAGARA UNIV. N.Y. - Both the men's (8-6, 5-0 MAAC) and women's (6-9, 5-0 MAAC) tennis teams defeated Fairfield University, with a comeback after losing the doubles point. The women beat Fairfield, 4-3, and the men defeated the Stags, 4-1.

For the women, in doubles, Raquel Solis (Puebla, Mexico) and Emma Cunnington (Victory, B.C.) played at the second doubles position to earn Niagara's only doubles victory.

Solis also picked up her ninth-straight win at first singles when she defeated Dana Postupack. Shella Dargout (Rochester, N.Y.) defeated Paulina Rys at second singles while Vanja Lakic (Waterloo, Ont.) grabbed a win at third singles by defeating Alyssa Ruiz. Niagara fell in both fourth and fifth singles before Kim Roberts (Victoria, B.C.) picked up Niagara's fourth point and defeated Courtney Price at sixth singles.

The Purple Eagles travel to Duquesne in Pittsburgh, Pa. for a match on Sunday.

The men defeated Fairfield, 4-1 on Saturday. After losing all three doubles matches, the Purple Eagles rebounded in singles. At first singles, Walter Garcia (Oaxaca, Mexico) picked up his 10th-straight victory. Niagara picked up wins third, fourth and fifth singles when Roman Silin (Niagara Falls, Ont.), Collin Laffey (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Marc Dickinson (Saskatoon, Sask.) each picked up a victory.
