LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -  The women's tennis team (7-12, 6-1) continued to improve on its nearly-perfect conference record on Sunday when it defeated Siena (4-12, 2-4) 5-1. The victory put an end to conference play for the season, before the MAAC tournament on Apr. 18-20.

Shella Dargout (Rochester, N.Y.) earned her 16th victory on the season when she defeated Jessica Asselin 6-2, 6-2 at second singles. Vanja Lakic (Waterloo, N.Y.) defeated Lauren Barbade 6-2, 6-1 at third singles. In the fourth singles position, Emma Cunnington (Victoria, B.C.) defeated Dinka Keric 6-3, 6-3. Victoria Tiso (Clarence, N.Y.) earned her fourth conference win of the season by defeating Jennifer Messing 6-1, 6-1 at fifth singles. Picking up the win and sixth singles was Kim Roberts (Victoria, B.C.) who defeated Bridget Finnerty 6-1, 6-2.

Raquel Solis (Puebla, Mexico) was defeated at first singles by Sarah Mayer 6-2, 7-6 (7-1). Mayer earned her eighth consecutive match win.

To to weather and time restraints, doubles matches could not be played.

Niagara ended conference play with six wins before heading to Flushing Meadows, N.Y. for the 2008 MAAC Tournament. Niagara enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed and will play the No. 7 seed at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 18.

Before heading down to Flushing Meadows, N.Y. the Purple Eagles will play an additional match. Niagara will travel to St. Bonaventure, N.Y. on Tuesday, Apr. 15 for a 1:00 pm match.

On the men's side, Niagara (9-8, 6-1) defeated Siena (9-9, 4-3) 6-0 on Sunday. The victory secured six conference wins on the season heading into the conference tournament.

Walter Garcia (Oaxaca, Mexico) continued his hot streak, winning his tenth-straight match by defeating Jeremy Deuel 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 at first singles. Alex Abji (Vancouver, B.C.) earned his fifth conference win of the season and second singles and Roman Silin (Niagara Falls, Ont.) picked up a win at third singles. Both Marc Dickinson (Saskatoon, Sask.) and Nick Bolea (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) each picked up a win and fifth and sxith singles, respectivley.

Only one doubles matched was played. Steve Kopf (Grand Island, N.Y.) and Dickinson defeated Jay Godbole and Shawn Conroy 8-2.
