POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist Red Foxes were a tough contest to both of Niagara's tennis teams, who entered the match undefeated in MAAC play. Both teams fell to Marist, the Men (8-8, 5-1) lost 5-2 while the women's team (6-11, 5-1) was defeated 7-0.

The Men's team began the match, winning two doubles matches to earn the point. At second doubles, Alex Abji (Vancouver, B,C,) and Walter Garcia (Oaxaca, Mexico) earned their fifth straight doubles victory on the season.

Garcia went on to win his ninth straight singles match, not losing in the first singles spot since Feb. 8. He defeated Christian Coley 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

Things were also not going in Niagara's favor on the women's side. Niagara lost all seven points. Emma Cunnington (Victoria, B.C.) won her first set 6-2 against Mirelva Colon before being defeated 6-1, 6-1 in the final two sets.

Both the men's and women's tennis teams will continue conference action on Sunday when they travel to Loundonville, N.Y. to take on Siena for the final MAAC contest of the regular season.
