Women’s Tennis Closes Regular Season Tuesday

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University women’s tennis team (10-10) plays its final regular-season match of the year Tuesday when it travels to Olean to take on the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (2-7) at 3 p.m. at the St. Bonaventure Tennis Courts.

Junior Shella Dargout (Rochester, N.Y.) enters the match with an eight-match winning streak. She also sports records of 15-8 overall, 13-5 in dual matches and 9-1 at No. 5 singles.

Senior Jacquelyn Cary (Selkirk, N.Y.) has won 11 matches this season and is 6-3 at No. 6 singles. Classmate Julianne Prokopich (Loretto, Ont.) has 10 wins and is 10-8 in dual matches.

In doubles, Cary and Prokopich sport records of 11-6 overall and 9-5 at No. 3 doubles.

St. Bonaventure enters the match on a four-match losing streak after dropping a 6-1 match vs. Dayton April 14.

Anna Perevenzetseva is 2-10 overall and 2-8 at No. 1 singles. Yolande Callghan is 4-7 overall and 4-5 at No. 2 singles.

In doubles, Perevenzetseva and Callghan are 5-7 at No. 1.

Niagara has won the last three matches over St. Bonaventure, including last year’s 6-1 decision in Olean.
