CLEVELAND – Junior Shella Dargout (Rochester, N.Y./East) picked up the Niagara University women’s tennis team’s (3-1) lone point as Cleveland State (2-4) defeated the Purple Eagles 6-1 Saturday at River Oaks Racquet Club. The loss snapped a three-match winning streak for Niagara.
Dargout improved to 5-3 overall, 3-0 in dual matches and 2-0 at No. 5 singles after defeating Christine Vogelgesang, 7-6 (4), 4-6, 10-4.
Niagara’s No. 3 doubles team of seniors Julianne Prokopich (Loretto, Ont.) and Jacquelyn Cary (Selkirk, N.Y.) defeated Jenn Myers and Vogelgesang, 8-5.
The Purple Eagles return to action Feb. 11 when they host Buffalo at 3 p.m. at the Sportsplex.
