NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University women’s tennis team (3-4) lost its fourth consecutive match with a 7-0 loss to Duquesne University (2-1) Friday night at the Sportsplex.
Senior Jennifer Cremieux (Ajax, Ont.) and junior Shella Dargout (Rochester, N.Y.) lost 8-2 to Jacqueline Hughes and Rebecca Poole at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, the senior duo of Julianne Prokopich (Loretto, Ont.) and Jacqueline Cary (Selkirk, N.Y.) lost 8-3 to Johanna Bezjak and Rachel McGowan. Junior Kim Roberts (Victoria, B.C.) and sophomore Victoria Tiso (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) lost 8-7 at No. 3 doubles to Alexandria Albano and Andrea Sailer.
In singles, Cremieux lost 6-0, 6-3 to Bezjak at No. 1, Prokopich lost 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 to Hughes and Dargout fell, 6-0, 6-0 to Poole at No. 3.
Cary lost 6-0, 6-3 to McGowan at No. 4, Tiso was beaten 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 by Sailer and Robert lost 6-3, 6-0 to Alicia McNamara at No. 6.
Niagara returns to play Sunday when it opens the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference portion of its schedule with a 1 p.m. match vs. Loyola College at the Sportsplex.
