ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The Niagara University women’s tennis team (8-11) finished its regular season on a winning note Monday, defeating Big Four rival St. Bonaventure, 6-1, in Olean.
The Purple Eagles won the doubles point when junior Julianne Prokopich (Loretto, Ont.) and sophomore Shella Dargout (Rochester, N.Y.) beat Anna Perevenzetseva and Anna Morterll, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles, and freshmen Vanja Lakic (Waterloo, Ont.) and Victoria Tiso (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) defeated Katie Riley and Stephanie Fosnight, 9-7, at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, won at No. 2 through No. 6 with senior Danielle Grenier (Fort Erie, Ont.) and junior Jacquelyn Cary (Selkirk, N.Y.) pulling out three-set victories at No. 2 and No. 5 singles.
Niagara returns to action this week when it participates in the 2006 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Championship in Flushing, N.Y., at the United States Tennis Association Tennis Center.
