NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University women’s tennis team (3-3, 1-0) snapped a two-match losing streak and won its first league match late Saturday night with a 7-0 shut out of Saint Peter’s College (4-4, 0-2) in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Sportsplex in North Tonawanda.
Junior Julianne Prokopich (Loretto, Ont.) kept her unbeaten singles record alive, defeating Kristy Bonner, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. She is now 4-0 in dual matches and 4-3 overall.
Senior Danielle Greiner (Ft. Erie, Ont.) won her first dual match, beating Angela Wiggs at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
In doubles, sophomore Kim Roberts (Victoria, B.C.) and Vanja Lakic (Waterloo, Ont.) won their second-straight matche with an 8-4 win at No. 2. The duo is 6-3 overall and 4-2 in dual matches.
Niagara returns to action Friday when it travels to Hamilton, N.Y., to take on Colgate University at 5 p.m.
