FLUSHING, N.Y. – For the third consecutive year, the second-seeded Niagara University women’s tennis team has advanced to the semifinals of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tennis Championship at the United States Tennis Association Tennis Center. The Purple Eagles defeated Saint Peter’s College 6-1 in the quarterfinals Friday morning.
Senior Mariam Al-Shikarchy (Fonthill, Ont.) extended her current singles’ winning streak to 10 matches with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Marija Djukic at No. 1.
Niagara plays the winner of third-seeded Rider and sixth-seed Siena in the semifinals at 11 a.m. Saturday.
