NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara University women’s tennis team (2-2) dropped its second consecutive dual match of the season Sunday afternoon, falling to undefeated Detroit (3-0), 5-2, at Schoolcraft College in Michigan.
Junior Julianne Prokopich (Loretto, Ont.) remained unbeaten in dual action, defeating Kelly Davis, 7-5, 7-5, at No. 4 singles.
The Purple Eagles other point came in doubles when senior Danielle Grenier (Fort Erie, Ont.) and Prokopich beat Annie Moore and Aneta Maricevic, 8-6, at No. 1, and sophomore Shella Dargout (Rochester, N.Y.) and freshman Victoria Tiso (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) downed Kaitlin McVehil and Amy Inman, 8-2, at No. 3.
The Purple Eagles return to action next weekend when they host the Niagara Can-Am on Monteagle Ridge.
