Utica, N.Y. — The Niagara women's track and field team turned in a series of strong performances across multiple events at the Utica Pioneer Spring Invite, held April 3-4 at Pioneer Track and Turf Complex.
Deborah Borysewicz and Soraya Ross led the way in the 100 meter dash, finishing first and second with times of 12.44 and 12.49, respectively. Borysewicz added a fourth-place finish in the 200 (25.79), while Hannah Adderley-Julien placed fifth (26.30).
Freshman Dallis Jones contributed a fourth-place finish in the 100 (12.97) and eighth in the 200 (27.38). Sydney Galas, also a freshman, rounded out the Purple Eagles' 100 contingent with a sixth-place showing in 13.21 and seventh in the 200 with a 27.38.
Brittany Day (5th/1:02.68), Diasha Fluellen (7th/1:03.76), Alexis Grijalva (8th/1:03.81) and Arrianna Blachowicz (10th/1:05.34) all placed top-10 in the 400 meter dash for the Purple Eagles.
Alexa Briggs won the 1500 meters in 4:49.40 while Natalia Seremetis finished 10th (5:19.13). Olivia Meier gave Niagara another win, this one in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:21.64.
Niagara's relay units also performed well. The A squad of Jones, Ross, Hannah Adderley-Julien and Borysewicz took first in the 4x100 in 48.86. The B squad finished second in 51.23.
Adderley-Julien posted the meet's top long jump mark at 5.80 meters, well clear of the rest of the field. Jada Kendrick placed sixth in the 100 hurdles (16.50), while Clara Barr took second in 15.57 and Sophia Waliszewski finished fifth (15.93).
Vanessa Woolery added a third-place finish in the 400 hurdles (1:08.36), while Waliszewski claimed another top-five in fifth (1:14.58) to round out a productive weekend for the Purple Eagles.
