Buffalo, NY — The University of Niagara women's track and field team competed across a wide range of events Friday at the University at Buffalo Alumni Invitational, held at UB Track & Field Stadium.
Soraya Ross and Dallis Jones led the charge in the 100-meter dash, finishing fifth and sixth respectively with times of 12.27 and 12.28 seconds. Deborah Borysewicz and Jones added contributions in the 200, crossing the line at 25.79 and 26.39 seconds. Cydney Hortman paced the 400, finishing 10th in 1:01.40.
In the 800-meter run, Alexa Briggs was the top Niagara finisher, placing sixth overall in 2:18.28. Haley Haskett and Mercedez Covey also scored, running 2:27.94 and 2:26.16, respectively.
Niagara had a presence in the distance races as well, with Natalia Seremetis finishing ninth in the 1500 in 5:04.09. Olivia Meier took fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:59.22, while Allie Moran finished ninth at 13:21.32.
In the hurdles, Clara Barr took fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.90 seconds. Sophia Waliszewski notched an 18th in the 100 hurdles (15.79) and contributed a 10th-place finish in the 400 hurdles in 1:08.34. Vanessa Woolery added an eighth-place mark in the 400 hurdles at 1:05.88.
Niagara's 'A' relay quartet of Jones, Ross, Hannah Adderley-Julien and Borysewicz combined to take second in the 4x100 relay with a time of 47.91 seconds. The 'A' 4x400 squad of Woolery, Brittany Day, Alexis Grijalva and Jada Kendrick finished fourth in 4:15.76.
In the field events, Kimaya Hall placed 21st in the long jump at 4.77 meters and added a seventh-place finish in the triple jump at 10.52 meters. Megan Jackson threw 10.65 meters in the shot put for ninth place.
