Niagara University, N.Y. – Men's Hockey fell 4-2 to Sacred Heart on Saturday night at Dwyer Arena.
The Purple Eagles are now 7-12-0, 4-7-0 AHA, while the Pioneers improved to 11-7-2, 8-4-2 AHA.
Sacred Heart struck first when Gavin Bryant netted his fifth goal of the season just 35 seconds into the game, assisted by Stephane Huard and Aiden VanRooyan.
At 3:12 Spencer Young tied the game at 1-1, capitalizing on assists from Jonathan Ziskie and Nicholas Niemo.
Ray Fust gave the visitors a 2-1 lead at 4:37, finishing off helpers from Noah Ellis and Marcus Joughin.
The Pioneers extended their lead to 3-1 at 13:27 when Ethan Wolthers scored what would stand as the game-winning goal on an unassisted effort.
With goaltender Tomas Anderson pulled for an extra attacker, Noah Ellis sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 15:33, assisted by John Driscoll and Vitaly Levyy.
Niagara finally broke through on the power play at 16:06 when Jacob Maillet cut the deficit to 4-2, with assists from Glebs Prohorenkovs and Marshall Finnie.
