Niagara University, N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles dropped a 6-2 decision to visiting Clarkson on Friday night at Dwyer Arena, falling to 7-10-0 on the season as the Golden Knights improved to 9-11-0.
The Golden Knights wasted little time getting on the board, as Mael St-denis scored just 1:37 into the contest, assisted by Remi Gelinas.
Talon Sigurdson capitalized on a man advantage at 13:33, taking assists from Ryan Bottrill and Owen Van Steensel to make it 2-0.
Tate Taylor added a late power-play goal at 19:41 to make the deficit 3-0 after the first frame.
Tomas Anderson replaced Rolovs in net to start the period to start the middle frame.
Justin Cote extended the Golden Knights lead to 4-0 at 16:12, finishing off assists from Gelinas and Taylor, with the Purple Eagles heading to the third period facing a four-goal deficit.
The Purple Eagles fell behind 5-0 when Cote notched his second power-play goal at 7:31.
Davis Codd got Niagara on the board at 10:43, converting assists from Nathan Oickle and Lane Brockhoff to make it 5-1.
Just 38 seconds later, Noah Hackett beat Shane Soderwall, assisted by Glebs Prohorenkovs, cutting the deficit to 5-2.
Sigurdson added his second of the night with another power-play goal at 14:23 with the Purple Eagles ultimately falling 6-2.
