Niagara University, N.Y. - The Niagara Women's Track and Field team continued their outdoor season competing in the Geneseo Early Season Invitational.
The Purple Eagles took home multiple first place finishes throughout the event. Alissa Mete claimed the top spot in the 10,000m with a time of 39:36.85, while the 4x100 team of Sapphire John, Lauryn Speicher, Hannah Adderley-Julien and Deborah Borysewicz took first place crossing the line in 49.12. Adderley-Julien also won the long jump with a score of 5.70.
Sara Mueller took home third in the 10k with a time of 40:46.62, while the 4x100 team of Clara Barr, Soraya Ross, Ifeoluwa Akinsanya and Brittany Day placed fourth crossing the line in 52.08.
Sarah Mruk came home in fourth place in the 3k steeplechase, finishing with a time of 12:28.11, while Ross also gave Niagara a fourth place finish in the 100m race with a time of 12.21.
Barr qualified for the finals of the 100m hurdles, placing seventh, crossing the line in 15.37. John also added to the Purple Eagles top-10 finishes claiming sixth in the 400m race with a time of 1:00.63. Alexa Briggs placed eighth in the 5000m race, crossing the line in 18:18.80.
