NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. — Niagara erupted for 12 runs on 12 hits enroute to a dominant 12-2 win over Manhattan on Thursday afternoon at Bobo Field in MAAC action.
How it Happened
The Purple Eagles (11-20, 6-10 MAAC) got off to a fast start, plating four runs in the first inning and never looking back.
Rees Kozar led the offensive outburst, going 4-for-6 with a home run, two RBIs, three runs scored, and a stolen base.
Nate Milk added a two-run homer in the fourth and finished with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Vincent Mauro chipped in three hits and drove in three, while
Curtis McKay and
Jacob Brooks also added key RBIs to keep the pressure on Manhattan's pitching staff, which allowed 12 walks and hit three batters.
The Purple Eagles also wreaked havoc on the basepaths, stealing nine bases, including three from Brooks and two from
Elijha Hammill.
Niagara starter
Matthew DelVecchio (3-4) earned the win, tossing 6.2 innings while allowing just two runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out six and walking five.
Andrew Baumgart threw 2.1 innings of scoreless relief to seal the win.
