EDISON, NJ – Niagara senior Vincent Mauro and junior Matthew Delvecchio were named MAAC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Mauro went a combined 7-for-15 at the plate, hitting .467. The Niagara Falls, N.Y. native tallied 10 RBI and six runs scored. During the weekend sweep of Saint Peter's Mauro hit .455 with eight RBI and three extra base hits.
Delvecchio threw 7.0 scoreless innings in the 12-0 victory over Mount St. Mary's. The San Marcos, Calif. native struck out a season-high batters on way to his first win of the season.
Niagara will return to action on Friday for the first of a three game series against Quinnipiac.
