Box Score 2 VESTAL, N.Y. — The Niagara men's tennis team lost a pair of non-conference matches this weekend at Binghamton University's Tennis Complex, falling to St. John's 5-2 on Saturday before dropping Sundays match to Binghamton 4-2.
In Saturday's match against St. John's, the Purple Eagles started strong in doubles as
Tanner Bedard and
Vid Maric secured a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles. However, the Red Storm claimed the other two doubles matches to take the opening point.
Bedard provided Niagara's highlight in singles play against St. John's, defeating Carl Gustavson (7-6, 6-3, 6-0) at the top position. The Red Storm proved too strong across the remaining singles matches, with
Vid Maric,
Gurustat Makkar, Jose Maria Garcia Uribe, Mikolaj Kowal, and
Rohan Srivastava all falling in straight sets.
Bedard and Maric again leading the way in doubles with a 7-6 victory to begin Sundays match with the Bearcats. Garcia Uribe and
Trevor Masi added another doubles win to secure the opening point for Niagara.
Bedard continued his impressive weekend in singles, dispatching William Morais Binnie (6-1, 6-1), however, Niagara would go on to fall to the Bearcats, 4-2.
