Hamden, Conn. — Niagara men's tennis fell to Quinnipiac 7-0 Saturday afternoon.
The Bobcats seized early control in doubles, with the tandem of Alessandro Sciacca and Carlos Braun Simo defeating Niagara's Logan Wong and Jose Maria Garcia, 6-4, at No. 1. Csanad Nyaradi and Vishal Prakash clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win over Ary Bhawan and Shravan Somasi at No. 3. The No. 2 doubles match between Ekansh Shukla and Sarosh Rustomjee against Elias Hoxha and Finn Burridge was left unfinished at 4-4.
Quinnipiac carried the momentum into singles, sweeping all six positions. Braun Simo handled Garcia 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1, while Prakash topped Wong 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2.
The closest match on the day came at No. 3, where Bhawan pushed Hoxha to a match tiebreak after splitting sets, 6-3, 3-6, before falling 8-10 in the tiebreak.
Sciacca defeated Rustomjee 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4, and Burridge rolled past Shukla 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5. Nyaradi closed out the sweep at No. 6, defeating Somasi 6-0, 6-0.
