EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Announced its 2024-25 Preseason Coaches' Poll Wednesday morning. The Purple Eagles were picked to defend their championship on the women's side while the men were selected to finish second.
The women collected a league-leading 139 points, earning nine first-place votes, to top the 12-team league. The Purple Eagles used dominating performances on the final night of the 2024 championship to win the MAAC title with a final score of 697, edging runner-up Fairfield by 62 points. It was Niagara's second title over the past three years, and the second women's crown in program history after winning the program's first and only other trophy in 2022.
On the men's side, the Purple and White earned 68 points and one first place vote, coming in behind defending champion Marist who picked up 80 points and eight first place votes. Last season, Niagara finished behind the Red Foxes, earning its best finish since it won the MAAC Championship in 1994.
The 2025 MAAC Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Championships is a four-day meet that will take place February 12-15, 2025, and will be hosted at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio. 2025 will mark the second straight year the championships are hosted at SPIRE.
